Work currently being exhibited with 'Grow Where You Are Planted' at a London gallery. Workshop leader at various events around the country. As fascinated by the technical aspects of clay as the spiritual and ritual allure.
Teaching since 2007 at a range of schools, most latterly as Head of Create, Design and Engineering at a leading East Anglian independent school. Once a teacher, always a teacher.
Keen adventurer over land and sea. Passionate about pots and particularly in Japan, having spent a few months immersed in the city of Kyoto, home of Raku.
Having studied BA(Hons) Craft (Wood, Metal, Ceramics and Textiles) back in the 90s, then a few years supporting Contemporary British Craftspeople in Primavera Cambridge, I have continued to use my making skills over the years to express myself. Clay has always been a passion and throwing on a wheel in particular has always satiated my need to feel and know a material.
An advocate for lifelong learning, teaching was the best thing I could do to challenge myself and combine my nurturing skills. I created a role that gave students a grounding experience that underpinned the curriculum and gave them an opportunity to express themselves within a framework. I see potential and pick up on people's strengths.
I am passionate about the rich cultures across our globe, and having been nomadic over 2022/3, it was clay that wove my path back to being a maker. Ceramics has had such a huge, integral impact on each country I spent time in, and is celebrated so beautifully, particularly in Japan.
